What makes a custom medal actually custom

A genuinely custom medal starts with the shape. If your club badge is a shark fin, a phoenix or a shield, that is the outline of the medal, not a circle with a sticker in it. From there we work on the relief depth, the enamel colour fills, the metal finish and the texture so the whole piece reads as yours from across a room.

The ribbon is designed at the same time, in your club colours, with your name printed through it. It is part of the medal, not an afterthought pulled from a stock reel.

See it before you spend anything

Send us your logo and a sentence about the event. We turn that into a visual medal concept and email it back to you, free, with no obligation and nothing to sign.

If the committee wants the shape changed, the colours swapped or the wording adjusted, we redraw it. As many times as it takes, at no extra cost.

Priced honestly for clubs

We work with volunteer-run clubs as well as large event organisers, so pricing is transparent and quantity-based. You get an itemised quote covering the medals, the ribbons and delivery, with no setup or artwork fees hidden underneath.

Ordering more brings the unit price down, and we will tell you where the price breaks fall so you can decide rather than guess.

Made for UK clubs, shipped worldwide

We supply swimming clubs, running events, gymnastics competitions, triathlons, football tournaments and school sports days across the UK, and we deliver internationally to organisers in Europe, the US and beyond.

One named contact handles your order from the first sketch to the boxes arriving, so you always know where things stand.

Medal options in plain English

Every GoPodium medal is built to order, so nothing here is a fixed menu. This is simply the range clubs and organisers usually choose from when we design with them.

Sizes
50mm and 60mm cover the vast majority of club galas, races and competitions. 70mm and above are worth it for finals, championships and anniversary events where the medal is the keepsake of the day.
Shapes
Round, shield, star, or a shape cut from your own crest or event icon. A custom outline is the single fastest way to make a medal look nothing like a catalogue one.
Metal finishes
Gold, silver and bronze as standard, plus antique gold, antique silver, antique bronze, black nickel and two-tone combinations where you want the raised detail to jump out.
Colour
Soft enamel for crisp club colours in recessed areas, printed inserts for photographic artwork or sponsor logos, and clear epoxy doming if you want a glossy, hard-wearing top.
Detail and relief
2D relief for flat, graphic crests. 3D sculpted relief where a figure, animal or landmark should stand proud of the surface and catch the light.
Reverse side
Blank, engraved with event name and date, or laser personalised per athlete with names, positions or age groups.
Ribbons
Full-colour printed ribbons in your club colours with your name repeated along the length. Standard width 22mm, 25mm and 38mm, with a heat-cut or stitched finish.
Packaging
Poly-bagged as standard, sorted into age groups or events on request, with presentation boxes and velvet pouches available for podium and championship awards.
Minimum order
100 medals across a design. Mixed gold, silver and bronze counts towards the same total.
Typical timeline
Concept back to you within 24 hours, edits the same week, then production and delivery. Tell us the event date and we plan backwards from it; four to six weeks is comfortable.

How to order medals without the usual stress

Most committees only order medals once or twice a year, so the process feels bigger than it is. Here is exactly how it runs, and where clubs usually trip up.

1. Work backwards from your event date

The only genuinely fixed date in the whole process is the day athletes need something round their neck. Start there, take off a week of contingency for delivery, and you have your production deadline.

Design and approval is the part that slips, because committees meet fortnightly and everyone has an opinion on the crest. Getting the first concept in front of people early is what keeps the schedule honest.

2. Send your logo in the best format you have

A vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) is ideal because it can be scaled and separated into layers for tooling. If all you have is a PNG from your website, send it anyway. We redraw artwork routinely and will tell you honestly if quality will limit the detail.

If your crest has fine text or thin lines, we will usually suggest simplifying it slightly for the metal. Detail that reads fine on a screen can disappear at 60mm.

3. Decide what the medal has to do

A participation medal for 400 juniors and a championship medal for eight finalists are different objects. Participation medals reward volume, colour and a great ribbon. Championship medals reward weight, relief depth and finish.

Plenty of clubs run both from one design, changing only the metal finish and the ribbon wording. It keeps everything visually consistent and keeps the order over the minimum in one go.

4. Get the concept, then be picky

We send a visual concept for free before any money changes hands. Circulate it to the committee, the coaches and, if you can, one or two athletes. They notice things adults do not.

Edits are unlimited and free. Changing the shape at concept stage costs nothing; changing it after tooling costs everyone time. Say what you actually think at this stage.

5. Approve, produce, deliver

Once you sign off the design we produce the tooling, run the medals, print the ribbons and pack them to your instructions, sorted by event or age group if that helps on the day.

One named contact stays with your order from first sketch to boxes arriving, and we ship worldwide, so overseas organisers get the same process without the timezone ping-pong.

Common mistakes worth avoiding

Ordering exactly the number of entries. Late entries, double entries and lost medals are guaranteed. A ten per cent buffer costs very little and saves an awkward presentation.

Putting the year on everything. If there is any chance of leftovers being useful next season, keep the year on the ribbon or the reverse engraving rather than the medal face.

Leaving the ribbon to the end. The ribbon is half of what people see when the medal is hanging. Designing it alongside the medal, in club colours, is what makes the set look properly bespoke.

Common questions

How much do custom medals cost in the UK?

Price depends on size, finish, thickness and quantity. Send us your event details and we come back with an itemised quote alongside a free design concept, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

What is the minimum order for custom medals?

100 medals. That covers most club championships, galas, races and school competitions.

Do I have to pay for the design?

No. We design your medal for free and keep editing it until you are happy. You only pay once you approve the design and place the order.

How long do custom medals take to make?

Tell us your event date and we plan the design, approval and production schedule backwards from it. Most orders comfortably fit a four to six week window.

Can you make custom medals with our logo on them?

Yes. Your logo, crest or emblem is the starting point for the whole design, including the medal shape and the printed ribbon.
